Memphis was a prominent and idolatrous capital city of ancient Egypt. Associated heavily with Egyptian power and false gods, it is referenced in the prophetic books as a primary symbol of worldly arrogance facing God's judgment.

Debra got this 👉🏻 There is GRACE in the midst of judgment.

HEBREW 2420

2420. chidah חִידָה

Meaning: riddle, enigma, dark saying, parable, a puzzle

Nature of a “chidah” : חִידָה is employed in Scripture for an enigmatic statement, riddle, or dark saying that demands spiritual discernment. A chidah conceals truth in order to reveal it to those given understanding. It may appear in poetic parallelism, prophetic symbolism, court entertainment, or wisdom instruction, but in every setting it directs the hearer beyond surface meaning to the fear of the LORD, the beginning of wisdom.

Revelation through Concealment: Chidah underscores the paradox that God both hides and reveals. Truth is veiled to the proud but unfolded to the humble. Numbers 12:8 and Judges 14 contrast plain revelation with concealed speech, teaching that the Lord sovereignly chooses His medium.

Psalms and Proverbs employ riddles to cultivate meditation. The Israelite worshipper sings, reflects, and thereby internalizes covenant lessons. The Holy Spirit still uses poetic ambiguity to deepen our grasp of redemption.

Ezekiel and Habakkuk show riddles as instruments of judgment, yet embedded within them is the promise of restoration (Ezekiel 17:22-24). The hidden meaning becomes a message of hope once disclosed.

Prophets used riddles because metaphor could bypass hardened defenses and imprint truth on the imagination. Unlike secular riddles meant merely to entertain, biblical chidoth bear moral weight and covenant urgency.

Christ and the Fulfillment of Riddles: Psalm 78:2 is cited in Matthew 13:35 concerning Jesus: “I will open My mouth in parables; I will profess things hidden since the foundation of the world.” The incarnate Word embodies the ultimate chidah, concealing kingdom mysteries from scoffers while unveiling them to disciples. The cross itself is the grand riddle—folly to Greeks, stumbling block to Jews, but the wisdom and power of God to those who believe.

Approach every chidah prayerfully, trusting that “the LORD grants wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding” (Proverbs 2:6). The same God who concealed mysteries has, in Christ, provided the key to their revelation (Colossians 2:2-3).

THE IMAGE NUMBER ON THIS PHOTO OF ELVIS IS 2422. IT MEANS LIVING 👀 .. ALIVE 👀👀👀

HEBREW 2422

2422. chayeh חָיֶה

Meaning: life, living, alive, vigorous

חָיֶה encapsulates more than mere biological existence; it evokes vigor, resilience, and the animation that comes from God’s sustaining breath (Genesis 2:7). Its solitary use in Exodus 1:19 portrays a life‐force so strong that Hebrew mothers deliver children unaided, an image that sets “life” in opposition to Pharaoh’s decree of death.

Exodus juxtaposes Pharaoh’s culture of death with the life‐affirming power of Yahweh. חָיֶה foreshadows subsequent deliverance motifs: the blood of the Passover lamb sparing Israel’s firstborn (Exodus 12:13) and the parting of the sea granting a path to life while Egypt drowns. Throughout Scripture, similar tensions surface—Elijah reviving the widow’s son (1 Kings 17:22), the valley of dry bones receiving breath (Ezekiel 37:10), and ultimately the empty tomb of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:6).

The vigor implicit in חָיֶה finds its fullness in the Messiah’s declaration, “I came that they may have life, and have it in all its fullness” (John 10:10). The same divine potency that enabled Hebrew mothers to deliver despite Pharaoh now imparts eternal life to all who believe (1 John 5:12). Paul celebrates this invincibility: “For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21). The theme crescendos in Revelation, where the saints “came to life and reigned with Christ” (Revelation 20:4).

חָיֶה (Strong’s 2422) serves as a vivid flash of divine vitality in the Exodus narrative. It announces that God’s life‐giving power overrides tyranny, safeguards covenant purposes, and anticipates the resurrection life manifested in Jesus Christ and granted to His people.
