MARK 10 - TRUE GREATNESS IS FOUND IN HUMBLE SERVICE TO OTHERS!

THE FIRST TIME I LOOKED AT THE TIME THIS MORNING IT WAS 10:45 .. AND I HAD AN UNCTION TO LOOK UP SCRIPTURE.

“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Mark 10:45 ESV

AS JESUS DECLARED HIS COMING SUFFERING TO HIS DISCIPLES, THEY THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO JERUSALEM TO ESTABLISH HIS POLITICAL KINGDOM. SO JAMES & JOHN ASKED FOR WHAT THEY PERCEIVED IN THEIR FLESH TO BE THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS PLACES OF HONOR .. TO SIT AT HIS RIGHT & LEFT HAND.

“Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?””

Mark 10:38 ESV

THEY SAID YES, SO JESUS GRANTED THEIR REQUEST .. THEY WOULD INDEED DRINK FROM THE SAME CUP & BE BAPTIZED WITH THE SAME BAPTISM. THEY EVENTUALLY LEARNED THIS “BAPTISM” WAS THE BAPTISM OF SUFFERING AS JAMES WAS THE FIRST APOSTLE TO BE MARTYRED & JOHN (though he survived) WAS IMMERSED IN A VAT OF BOILING OIL.

TRUE GREATNESS IN GOD’S KINGDOM IS NOT IN POSITIONS OF POWER, LEADERSHIP & AUTHORITY .. IT IS NOT IN STATUS, MONEY & POPULARITY. RATHER, IT IS IN HUMBLE SERVICE TO OTHERS.

“And Jesus called them to him and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles Lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all.”

Mark 10:42-44 ESV

WHEREAS THE MODERN CHURCH OFTEN LOOKS TO THE WORLD FOR SUBSTANCE & STYLE .. JESUS HAS COMMANDED HIS CHURCH TO BE SEPARATE FROM THE WORLD & TO HUMBLY MINISTER TO HIS FLOCK (NOT FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE MINISTER, BUT TO DEMONSTRATE THE MINISTRY OF JESUS WHO BOWED LOW TO WASH THE FEET OF HIS DISCIPLES THEN LAID DOWN HIS OWN LIFE AS A SACRIFICE SO THAT WE MAY HAVE ETERNAL LIFE).

TIMESTAMP 12:32 (Luke 12:32 .. including verses 32-34) ON JULY 10 (the Biblical meaning of 10 is GOD IS CARRYING OUT HIS DIVINE PLAN IN PERFECT ORDER .. HE IS SETTING THINGS UP FOR HIS PURPOSE).

Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. Deuteronomy 12:32 ESV

TO CHOOSE LIFE IS TO CHOOSE JESUS!!! HE LOVES YOU AND IS EAGERLY WAITING FOR YOU TO ACKNOWLEDGE HIS FREE GIFT OF SALVATION & TO ASK HIM TO BE YOUR LORD & SAVIOR. THE BIBLE SAYS WE MUST CONFESS WITH OUR MOUTH THAT JESUS IS LORD TO BE SAVED FOR ALL ETERNITY. 

"And what is God's "living message?" It is the revelation of faith for salvation, which is the message that we preach. For if you publicly declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will experience salvation. The heart that believes in him receives the gift of righteousness of God - and then the mouth confesses, resulting in salvation. For the Scriptures encourage us with these words: "Everyone who believes in Him will never be disappointed." Romans 10:9-11 TPT

PRAY THIS PRAYER ALOUD WITH YOUR VOICE TO RECEIVE JESUS' FREE GIFT OF SALATION & INVITE HIM TO BE THE LORD OF YOUR LIFE:

Jesus, I come to you asking forgiveness of my sins. I confess in my heart and speak with my mouth that You are the Son of God who died on the cross for my sins, that You took my punishment & paid the price I could not pay for eternal salvation. I believe that you were raised on the 3rd day and are now seated at the right hand of God the Father. I receive Your free gift of salvation and I ask You to be the Lord of my heart, my soul and my life. Thank you for saving me & making me righteous before God.
